There's Water Everywhere! What Do I Do?

Imagine coming home from work after a long, tiring day. All you want to do is kick off your shoes and relax. You step through the front door, and SQUISH! You are met with the sound of your feet stepping onto wet carpet. Immediately your mind starts racing, you ask yourself WHAT DO I DO?
Determine if it is safe to be in the residence! Common hazards associated with water damages include sagging ceilings, slippery floors, and the risk of electric shock from the combination of water and electricity. If you feel that the area is too heavily affected, do not remain indoors! If you determine that you feel safe to proceed, you will want to turn off the water source. When a large portion of the house is affected, it may be beneficial to turn off water supply to the entire structure. If you can conclude that the water intrusion is isolated to one appliance or area (such as the dishwasher in the kitchen), you will want to turn off the water going to this area.
